Dubner Moderne is pleased to present
Nonstop
a solo exhibition of new paintings by New York based artist Matt Mignanelli, his first in Switzerland.
The exhibition will be on view from September 27th through November 2nd 2013 with the official vernissage on September 26th from 18h in the presence of the artist and with the participation of the Lausanne microbrewery Docteur Gab’s.
Informed by the diverse industrial landscape that surrounds his Brooklyn studio, the perpetual energy of the city, and his keen attention to the nuances of structure and technique, the exhibition will showcase Mignanelli’s refined, contemporary approach to painting. With extreme precision and a steady brush, his free-hand, often monochrome compositions of repeated geometric areas and fine lines, engage the fascinatingly subtle interactions of light and surface.
Matt Mignanelli was born in 1983. He is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, a recipient of an artist grant from the Vermont Studio Center, and a guest lecturer at the Parsons School of Design in New York. Mignanelli’s works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe.
In recent years, neighborhoods like Brooklyn have flourished through the interaction of varied forms of expression and creation. Microbreweries, fine restaurants, performance spaces and artist studios have all contributed to the flowering of the Brooklyn renaissance. It is in this spirit that Dubner Moderne is very pleased to be partnering with the Lausanne microbrewery Docteur Gab’s for this vernissage. We hope that this partnership can create synergies that will further develop Lausanne’s artistic scene.
